HS 3D 3 Regular Gumballs!

So I recently made a Gumball machine using Blender, which was to serve as another piece of hard surface modelling for my portfolio. However I decided to go a bit further and turn it into a character from a show called Regular Show who is a walking talking gumball machine, turning into a piece of character/hard surface modelling.

2 forgotten illustrations

So I was looking through my Facebook Art Page and realised I had two illustrations I had not uploaded on my blog. Don't know how they managed to slip by unnoticed but sure here they are.

Had to put a watermark on the latter, it looks as if it would be very stealable.

HS 3D 2 - Novation Launchpad

So continuing from my last post. I decided to do some more Hard Surface 3D Modelling, opting to make another piece of noise-making gear that I own. The Novation Launchpad.

HS 3D - Akai MPK 49

So inbetween other projects I managed to get a bit of hard surface modelling done using none other then my Akai MPK 49 as reference. It was a nice little project to do, especially since I decided to disregard polycount and just try make it as nice as possible. I hope to do more models like this in the near future.

Zbrush Modelling

For years I've attempted to get into Zbrush and put it off because it kept confusing me. Well no more. There's no way around it. The only way I can do the kinda kick-ass modelling I want to do is to get serious with this program. So here's my first 2 sculpts. I really hope to keep this up as it's an awesome and powerful program.

Maya Modelling

So I recently decided to get over my irrational fear of using Maya and I love it. It's a deadly program. I also ran out of ideas for things to model so I asked my good friend and Concept Artist Mark Stokes to come up with a character design. He instead returned with big sketch dump pages with heaps of characters on them. So I picked two and made them in 3D. Be sure to check out his blog too! Divil Jones

Tucked away on my PC

So I found this texture that was used on my short film Peripheral on my computer's hard drive, and I figured it was a shame not to have it on my blog. I spent a bit too much time on it and put a bit too much detail into it considering how long it was actually on screen. So I'm posting it here, in all it's glory! My fake Ipad user interface.

So there's an irish blog called collective thinking that do an image a month thing where the members of it are given a theme each month and asked to do an image based on that theme. I decided to join in for the craic, without asking, as I felt I could twist the theme of "The 7 deadly sins" as an excuse to draw two of my favorite characters of all time: Gaius Baltar and #6 from the Reimagined Battlestar Galactica series. Combined I feel they definitely represent, Wrath, Envy, Greed, Pride but most of all Lust.


Imagine you're a scientist and you're going out with what seems to be your dream gal. A smart and sexy woman, with an uncanny knowledge of machinery and programming, who turns out to be a cyborg that is only with you to leave backdoors in humanity's defense network (which you think you're working with her to improve) so the rest of her kin can nuke the lot of us with our own missiles. Leaving just 50.000 of us left.
And You thought you've had bad relationships.
